Living with noticeable hair loss is no longer to be expected due to the incredible developments that have been made in the treatment of men’s hair loss. With the introduction of Propecia, generic name Finasteride, it is now possible to stop or slow down the progression of hair loss in the majority of men who use it.
Fifty percent of all men experience male-patterned baldness; the most common type of hair loss beginning around the age of thirty.
It generally starts as a receding hairline; a thinning of hair on the crown and temples; resulting in a U-shape pattern around the head. In some rare cases, a male may end up completely bald.
The condition is genetic; caused by an abundance of the male hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which causes the hair follicles to become weak and eventually inactive, resulting in a lack of hair re-growth. This process can take decades, so if you have experienced rapid hair loss (under a year) or scalp irritation causing bald patches, you should seek medical advice from your GP to ensure there are no underlying thyroid conditions or other reasons for the condition.
One of the most effective treatments for general hair loss is finasteride, which prevents further hair loss and increases hair growth.
Appropriate finasteride regimen:1.odka time: 5 - 10mg per day for 5 years or more.

Regarding male-patterned baldness, it is important to administer finasteride as directed and to advise your doctor if you are at risk of further hair loss. The recommended starting dose is around 5mg per day, so you can be started in case ofScalp irritation, 50% of scalp showing signs of bleeding, and scalp hair loss progressing to reach a size of over 1cm.
The recommended dose for Finasteride is around 1mg per day, but you can increase it to 5mg or decrease to 5mg in some cases. You can take it on an as-needed basis, as it can take several weeks to notice significant improvement.
In rare cases, scarringide 5mg daily can be tolerated in those with reduced fertility, so monitoring for male-patterned baldness and treating if it occurs can help.

The U. S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning that the drug finasteride may increase the risk of breast cancer in women who take it. The FDA said the drug, sold under the brand name Propecia® by Merck & Co., can increase the risk of breast cancer in some women who take the drug. The drug was first approved by the FDA in 1997 for the treatment of female pattern hair loss. Merck also is marketing the drug for treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which is a type of enlarged prostate gland in the urethra. The drug has been shown to increase the risk of developing the condition.
Women who have the condition are at a higher risk of developing an enlarged prostate. The FDA said it was reviewing several studies and has not found an increased risk of developing an enlarged prostate. However, the FDA said there is a possibility that women who take the drug for an enlarged prostate may experience breast cancer. This is not an isolated case and Merck and the drug manufacturer also has a responsibility to inform the public that finasteride may also increase the risk of breast cancer.
Merck has advised users to stop taking the drug and to talk to their doctor before taking it. The drug is not available under the brand name Propecia® by Merck and is not approved for use in women.
In its press release, Merck said: “Patients who have had breast cancer can be extremely vulnerable to the side effects of this drug and should not be prescribed this drug. Women who are at a greater risk of developing breast cancer are also at a greater risk of developing a wider variety of cancers, including cancer of the breast and prostate.”
The agency also said: “While Merck believes the risk of developing breast cancer is low, the drug should be used as part of a comprehensive screening program to see if there are any changes in the risk of developing breast cancer. Further, the drug should not be used by women who have or are likely to have had a breast tumor in the past and who have or have had other risk factors, such as family history of breast cancer or depression.”
A similar warning is in the FDA’s revised application for the treatment of male pattern hair loss, which the drug has been approved for. The drug is already on the market for the treatment of this condition.
The FDA said that it was reviewing the product label for finasteride and that it may increase the risk of developing breast cancer in women taking the drug.
